Adhesive compounds and other adhesives

In the field of joining materials and creating permanent bonds, adhesive compounds play a key role. These inconspicuous substances, often invisible at first glance, perform an important function in production, craftsmanship and everyday life. Adhesive masses are versatile materials that allow different materials to be joined, from wood and metal to plastics and textiles.

One- and two-component adhesives

Adhesive masses, both single-component and two-component, are an important category of adhesives that are used in many fields. They are specialised adhesive substances that vary in their composition and curing method. Here is a brief characterisation of one- and two-component adhesive masses:

  • Single component adhesives – single-component adhesives consist of a single substance, which means that they do not require different components to be mixed before use. They are known for their fast curing time. Once applied to a surface, they begin a curing process that can take from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the type of adhesive and environmental conditions.
  • Two component adhesives – Two-component adhesives consist of two separate components: the adhesive and the hardener. These two substances must be thoroughly mixed before use. They allow precise control of curing time by adjusting the proportions of adhesive and hardener and the time available for application. Two-component adhesives often offer higher bond strength and durability compared to single-component adhesives. They are used in more demanding applications such as metal structures and composites.

Adhesive and sealing compounds on PUR basis

Adhesives and sealants based on PUR, or polyurethane, are a group of innovative substances that combine bonding and sealing capabilities. Polyurethane-based adhesives and sealants offer flexibility and strength that make them ideal for bonding and sealing materials. They are weather-resistant and therefore suitable for outdoor applications. Importantly, they have the ability to adapt to movements and stresses in the joined components.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives

Cyanoacrylate adhesives, often referred to simply as cyanoacrylics, are a type of adhesive characterised by rapid cure times and exceptional bond strength. There are different types of cyanoacrylate adhesives, such as:

  • thin-film,
  • gel,
  • flexible,
  • waterproof.

Epoxy adhesives

Epoxy adhesives consist of two main components – a resin and a hardener. Once these two components are mixed, a chemical reaction begins which leads to the curing of the adhesive. This reaction is irreversible and leads to a permanent and strong bond. Epoxy adhesives are known for their excellent mechanical strength. The curing time of epoxy adhesives can be controlled by adjusting the proportions of resin, hardener and environmental conditions.

Polyamide adhesives

Polyamide adhesives use polyamides as the main component of the adhesive or as one of the main components. Polyamides are a group of polymers with excellent mechanical strength, heat resistance and chemical resistance. The curing process for polyamide adhesives can be more complicated than for some other adhesives. It sometimes requires the right temperature conditions or curing time.
